Shane Helms Says Terrible Goldberg Insult Lightened The Mood After Jericho Fight

Backstage fights are a part of wrestling. As TNA Agent Shane Helms confirmed on this week's Fightful.com Shane Helms Podcast, boys will be boys.

Helms remembers in particular an infamous brawl between Chris Jericho and Bill Goldberg, which stemmed from their days together in WCW. During Goldberg's first week in WWE in 2003, the heat carried over, and Jericho sought out the former WCW Champion. A skirmish ensued, which resulted in Jericho catching Goldberg in a front face lock.

But it's what happened after the fight that made an impression on many backstage. Chris Jericho shouted "Stop it! You're being a goof!," to which Goldberg replied "Your mother's a goof!"

"Yes, that is correct," Helms said with a laugh. "It was very much something along those lines. We all kind of cracked about that. It lightened the mood for those in attendance. Scripting promos helps a lot of people (laughs)."

Booker T, who was also there to witness the fight, addressed Goldberg and said "Did you just say his mother's a goof? That's the worst insult I've ever heard in my life!"

Helms talks about this, himself and Buff Bagwell, Goldberg/Evan Karagias, JBL/Joey Styles, Renee Dupree/Bob Holly, Sheamus/Yoshi Tatsu, Helms/Jericho, and The Dicks fighting each other backstage during his latest show.
